More Visitors Please! 18th May 2010 10:10 AM
This may seem like an obvious question but how do I encourage more visits to my site?

Nadya

I assume from the title tag of your home page that the keywords you are talking about when you say
I've checked my keywords and I'm still finding myself on page 1 of google but still not a huge amount of traffic

are "Chocolate Brownies for delivery" and or a combination of "rich chocolate brownies delivered to your door"

A quick search shows me there is very little competition for that phrase so you will do well see here

I am afraid you have done what many others do and concentrate on keywords that have little or no traffic value, then factor in the amount of people that will buy from a website which can be as little as 1% of your actual visitors then you are going to find it hard.

My advice would be to target keywords with real traffic, also I would advise for a product like yours that you do a lot more off site work to bring traffic to your website, my sister in law has a lifestyle website which sells high end furniture nik naks , fancy named cushions, wooden letters for your kids names etc and she has managed to get traffic because of blogs and magazines, where ladies who lunch are saying oh found this lovely shop online etc.

My advice send some to magazines or better still turn up at there offices and give them to everyone and anyone.

Steve sorry to hijack the thread, but this is a great example for people who want to understand the skill of "link bait"

So we have just put a link to the site to show a useful resource to others so they now have an inbound link and the benefit to the company is they get url of companies that have shown an interest in the position in the search engines.

So one way to get inbound links is to provide something free that is worth linking to.
People who would like free help 29th April 2010 11:41 AM
So today I had a conversation with a company that are looking to start selling their products into the UK and Europe, and the deal proposed was that I buy the equipment from them and sell it to someone else at a profit - ground breaking business idea

So when I explained to them why would I do that without some form of support from them and inducement to do so they could not see what it was I was saying, to give over my time to producing leads to sell their products with no commitment from them.

Reminds me of the time when I guy very kindly offer me a job in sales - the deal was:

1 - I provide a car and petrol to get to appointments
2 - I looked for the appointments and paid for the privilege of using my own phone through my commission

He would buy the equipment and I would get 60% and he would get 40 % of the profit, when I pointed out to him the only thing I was not doing was buying the equipment and that I could do that and take 100% he looked at me blank and thought this guy has a point.

You pay peanuts - etc

Depends if you need credit for the business your starting.

Tell us a little more about what the business is and what your short term plans are and I am sure someone can help.

Remember this though: today is the first day of the rest of your life so make it count and you cannot change history!

So coming to a forum like this shows me you are ready to take charge which is a positive step!
