Adwords - lowercase URL 26th January 2011 4:00 PM
Are you guys serious? Im going through google places at the moment for a client and all i see is mountains of spam building up!
honestly before they started listing places the business reviews for my local estate agents were very low, all of a sudden they all have a shed load of glowing reviews (with similar keyword rich titles i might add).

Why on earth would google make it a paid service? the whole point is to provide accurate listings not who can pay the most...

That would be complete irony, the day search engines start "hiding" their adverts in organic listings employing black hat techniques such as blending the ads to match the organic results.....

your so right, they update the look of the site more than they update the info on how to use it! but here's a local one: What's on in Cardiff | Facebook with a chosen URL, tbh I'm actually quite impressed they even let you use fullstops in them.

The option to change it come in the page edit section when you get 20 fans, so just tell all your friends to like you and you'll be well on your way.

Im still not sure on groups... tbh I didnt even look, fan pages get indexed in Google and groups dont... so...

FB don't currently allow friendly urls for fan pages or groups but they are releasing this feature shortly.

**************************************************

They do provide this when you reach over 20 fans on fan pages, not so sure about groups tho
So are you ready for Google TV? 6th October 2010 3:25 PM
Untill I saw the google site I wasnt excited... then I saw a phone being used as a remote control... I think I wet myself.... cant wait!!!
just think of all the posibilities for reverse spam popping up in in the porn searches then! people will be making sites with thier affilliate ads in them and just copying the site on a .xxx tld just to get clicks....

another prediction is if this does happen... i bet the porn industry acts a lot more quickly to combat spam than weve seen in the past!

your getting a lot of good advice on here so dont let horror stories put you off, AdWords can be really great for business.

take the advice above and set a daily limit on your budget, you can always increase or decrease it, but no harm in starting off a little conservativly.

take the advice about using googles keyword tool too, you will need to choose keywords for which you turn up for and there really is no point turning up for things yo dont offer a service or. use phrase or exact match keywords to begin with. you would be surprised how many funny things come up... I run a pub agency PPC and when I took over the account I laughed at how a the word pub brought up pup in the search terms - basically people looking for puppies were being dealt the adverts, and there are a lot more people looking for puppies than there are people searching to buy a pub in my area!

dont be afraid to play around with things, once you have your budget set, stick to it, but try changing the adverts to be more appealing or to match your site better.

remember you can pause the ad campaign at anytime ... change things and start again.
Have a look at this story... "Love those gigantic tits" remark lands airport scanner operator in hot water | Gadling.com there are ggoing to be so many of these coming up im sure!
Really? I love the idea of having a tablet lying about the house and being just easier to share in the living room and look up the odd things online, or have a wierd app to control the stereo on, or even the curtains....
It wont replace my keyboard for when i want to actually get things written down, i mean i can type faster than i can write so the keyboards here to stay for a while...
makes me wonder, how many people are going to get a table and straight away plug a mouse or keyboard into it? haha

Oh those brownies look good! for me your number 9 in the UK search and 20 in .com for the big G. the search volume isnt very big, but im sure you'll notice a greater, more significant impact the higher up you climb.
