this is where a newbie comes along and dumps a broad question like 'what is seo?@ then a dribble of other newbies miraculaoulsy appear and give naff replies.
Yes a low PR website can outrank a high PR website. Just go to Google to confirm that very easy question.
What those neighbours have done is tantamount to harrassment since every case has been unfounded and wasting valuable police and council time.

I would seek advice from a lawyer and complain to the police of harrassment and get an injunction served on them. People can't go around annoying you like that because they can't get their own way.

If it was down to keyword-rich domains most compa ies would be screwed. It isn't the case. For a short while (in the grand scheme of how seo has been on the go) Google has been giving brownie points for keywords in the domain (or the url). That probably won't last forever and in any case, it is very easy to outrank a url with keywords, with one that has good quality backlinks. Having a domain with the keywords in it is not the be all and end all. Giving weight to keywords in domains would have been a sensible financial move. Its got more folk putting up more websites who do more seo and who spend more on adwords. Had they not done so, Google would have missed a trick there. They dont miss tricks. They look for ways to make even more money. Thats my 2 cents anyhow.

But if you are paying less for a bendy cucumber and mis-shaped tomatoes then you are not competing on price, you are simply offeirng a different quality. Yes, they taste the same and it wouldnt bother me on its appearance, as long as the produce was fresh and lasted just as long.

However competing on price can only be assumed if it is selling the exact same thing. This isn't. Netto already sell fruit and veg cheaper than Tesco's. They also sell cheap tinned foods that is either branded or unbranded. Has that taken over? No. It never will either. The majotity (not everyone) want a nice shopping experience generally. ie decent till service, decent staff and customer service, everything organised and sticked up, etc and so on. Most people want this. The minority want the people's supermarket experience.

I wasnt arguing with andrey_k, it wasnt their thread...that we know of..... but I said that the idea couldnt compete with tesco on price yet they conveniently overlooked that small point and decided instead to rant on about me being negative to the idea....which I wasnt. I hate shopping and fast foods!

Some folk have no idea and I dont believe they run a business or have even managed a proper cashflow and P&L.

I dont think the majority of people would work for free on that concept or any other, apart form volunteer work, which is different of course.

Fesity......me? Not at all. But I believe we are entitled to an opinion when we are highly experienced to give one

Oh not not here as well! I put my 2c of my own opinions on the same topic on sheffielfd forum and some cuckoo got the hump with my views. So it seems if you don't agree with someone, you are pessimistic, negative, etc. Clearly on the basis of the idea laid before us in that forum, it won't work as it said it was up for 'competing on prices with Tesco's'. Yeah right!

It's a nice-sounding concept if you want to work even more hours than we do already (as business owners) but I dont work for myself to then earn money to then have to work somewhere else in order to avoid spending it.
Most people do not properly grasp what networking is about.

The people who wrote that about expecting to buy at a networking event obviously don't either.

Nobody should go to networking expect to get a sale. They may get a hot lead now and again, and a few warm leads here and there and some times, nadda however, one should not go for that.

It's about 2 things in my opinion:-

1. Remind your potential customers you are there. That you are here to stay, not a fly by night, here today gone tomorrow outfit. Build long term credibility, reliability, and meet face to face because it ain't gonna happen anywhere else, really, now is it?!

2. Build relationshops and work on getting referrals through association in tandem with No. 1, because you see each other regularly. They recomend you because they easily rememebr you. Why do you think brand names run adverts over and over incessantly? To remind the market over long periods of time about them and or their products. TV adverts build relationships by constantly putting their ads in front of us. You do the same in networking.

I realise you have to look at all options and work out what is best based on features and benefits for your business, but check out Voipfone.

Excellent customer service (this is invaluable for any business), good pricing and non contract so you aren't tied if you need to change later on.

It's like I say to people; I want my customers to stay with me because they want to, not because they have to. Retaining customers on a non-contract monthly renewable service speaks for itself really.

Voipfone - UK VoIP Internet Phone Service - Hosted VoIP PBX Office Switchboard and Telephony services

PS Just a very happy customer, not an affiliate or relation in any way.
