Groupon made to improve 16th March 2012 11:06 AM
I came across this article after doing a bit of research in to groupon:

BBC News - Groupon given deadline to improve

The amount of complaints I have seen on forums and blogs of people not receiving there goods after they had purchased through a Groupon scheme is unbelievable, you would think the businesses would predict a boom in sales and ensure they had the man power and stock to be able to deal with it.

I don't understand why they don't, fair enough they will have many sales in the short term, but in the long run, this seriously damages there reputation.

I do think groupon are also to blame, they should also ensure the business can cope to prevent people from getting ripped off.

I think it depends on the site, you always see articles posted on the news feed from when someone has read it, and if it has a fascinating head line it encourages more people to click and read it, it just comes down to having useful information on your website I suppose.

It seems to work for a lot of event organisers, they encourage you to like their page so you can view the photos from which ever event you went to, then they start posting up and coming events on the news feed, to advertise the event, free advertising
Lloyds bank perform PR stunt! 24th February 2012 12:36 PM
Yeah I reckon it's a publicity stunt, if all of this wasn't made public and no body knew about it they would definitely have kept there bonuses.
Why can't SEO's be performance based? 22nd February 2012 8:04 PM
I have seen some companies that say pay upon satisfaction, however there is always a catch of a small up front fee.

Surely there must be some laws against how they sell there service, its like Paying
Thank you both for the advice, I have just had some flyers printed and the plan is to go round local shops, houses and also hand them out to people at the markets we are doing, as for the PR I am still looking in to this, it make take me a few days to write and article so if it's not worth it, it will be a waste of time!

Thanks
I did some online reading and wrote my first press release. I submitted on the FREE press release submission sites and waited nothing happened (well except the PR article from these sites showing in google searches)

I saw a nice business link adviser, who advised me to change my approach and tell my story. I did just that sent my story in the email and attached the same press release, I had written months prior to this ( tweaked a bit). I was a little cheeky with my subjecting to get their attention to read further. The next day got phone calls and email and got featured on a local paper.

It actually summaries this nice TED talk by Simon Sinek. People buy not what you do but why you do it

Ah right, where did you find these free press release sites? I have not yet written anything but I will bare this in mind, I'm hoping the fact that we are three young entrepreneurs will also make it more appealing, but I will have to see.

What is your business? do you sell products?
dmoz project 17th February 2012 6:56 PM
can any body explain what is Dmoz and how it effective?

It's just a web directory where you can submit your site, I think it used so people can search exactly what they want and then a list of sites in that category will come up, however there doesn't seem to be many sites in each category, which is probably why it is so hard to get in!

I'm sure Dmoz is rated quite highly by Google, so it would create a quality back link.

I have tried getting in to Dmoz as well, but I have never had any luck! I'm trying again at the minute but it takes a little while, but when you look at some of the other sites that are on there, they don't look anything special, I really don't understand!
Yeah, it can get very pricey, they are meant to be good though, I'll have too have a look at a few more, did you get good results from your press release?

Thanks
I'm not sure if I have put this in the right category but anyway...

I Have just set up a website selling canvas prints, and need to do a bit of marketing and advertising, I have been looking in to press releases but they cost a little bit of money and I have no budget for that, so does anyone know of any free ones? or any other free ways I can advertise my site without spamming and getting a bad reputation?

Thanks
