What would a President Trump world look like? 10th October 2016 12:05 PM
“Let the Americans elect a clown for president, god knows we have enough of own..”
Now that's the truth Apparently after last nights TV debate, if Trump wins, he is going to set up a special prosecutor to try and get Hillary jailed over her private email server shenanigans. I can't see these two ever swapping xmas cards A rumbustious argument or UKIP at breaking point? 7th October 2016 11:47 AM Well it's all going on for UKIP this week. Leaders stepping down days after getting the job, a bust up between leadership hopefuls, Neil Hamilton getting shown up on question time, and financial backer Arron Banks threatening to leave if Hamilton and the only MP UKIP have, Douglas Carswell remain in the party. The BBC reported that UKIP sources cited the punch up between MEP's Steven Woolfe and allegedly Mike Hookem, as a "rumbustious argument". Not actually sure what that means, but I suppose it translates as high spirits rather than a good kicking. Douglas Carswell seems to upset everyone, which is ironic as the only MP. Has UKIP outlived it's purpose? Like it or loathe it, we are leaving the EU, and a lot of credit has to be given to the Farage publicity machine for achieving this aim. But as a political party, they have struggled to shake off extreme views, seem to attract unsavoury characters, and have few if any genuine practical policies. Their sole aim and energy was at getting the UK out of the EU. Although they commanded an impressive vote during the last election, I suspect without Farage and a decisive policy such as leaving the EU, we won't see a repetition in the next election. I wonder if those voters will naturally gravitate towards Corbynism or will the Liberals manage to rebrand themselves? “The only thing with Norton is that it is bloat ware and slows down your PC ...Well it was a few years ago ”
We use Norton Security Premium (and 360 before that) on laptops and PC's from Win 7, with 4GB RAM to Win 10 and 16GB RAM. It runs absolutely fine.
It is more than AV these days, so prob why it gets a bloatware tag, but AV is only part of the battle, so Norton will protect you from Malware, offer basic firewall protection, and autorun tune up tasks when it senses no app or mouse movement. It also does backups if you want it to, but we don't use it for that.
My only bug bear is recent versions seem to require a reboot when they get new virus definition updates, which they never used to, but a small price to pay. Over the years it has captured and quarantined umpteen virus's on various devices, so it's become a trusty friend ![]() Heathrow could get a 3rd runway 6th October 2016 10:31 AM Interesting thing on the news this morning about Heathrow. Apparently the pollution levels around the airport are actually generated primarily by vehicles and not aircraft as most anti runway campaigners suggest. So plans to reduce London pollution levels by introducing less polluting vehicles could have a knock on affect by lowering pollution around the airport to keep a new runway within pollution laws, which it wouldn't currently meet. Sounds like good news, unless of course you live around Heathrow, in which case it's no doubt bad news Becoming a Non Smoker 6th October 2016 10:18 AM
“I think that would be a great idea to get members to use other members sites with discounts etc.”
Watch this space, we have something getting rolled out in November that should allow this, and get some publicity. But don't want to detract from the theme of the thread which is about non smoking Computer Updates 6th October 2016 10:10 AM I'm a long time user of Norton and swear by it. There are countless cheaper ones, even free ones, but when it comes to Security, IMHO it's down to Symantec (Norton) or McAfee. A lot depends on what devices you have, or if you only want a single subscription. eg Norton Security Deluxe will protect up to 5 PC's, Macs, Tablets and Smartphones (yep you can secure your phone). Currently they are offering that at £30 for 1 year, which is peanuts for security piece of mind. Windows Defender used to be a free malware scanner which has now become a full antivirus solution. Microsoft are obviously peddling it as the defacto choice for Windows. Personally, Microsoft are new to the party when it comes to full antivirus, and it may be very good, or it may be mediocre, only time will tell. Where as the likes of Norton are long term security experts who built the AV industry. Whatever you do, don't use a freebie one! Who will be next? 5th October 2016 8:26 AM
