Social media - a waste of time? 25th February 2013 10:05 AM
I don't think Facebook is very valuable for Business, unless you're in location-based retail - as it's more of a personal channel.

Twitter can be GREAT for customer service, however.
Just look at how Starbucks use it to cross-sell and answer inquiries.

The only downside is; if you're an SME or startup, you don't have the capital to employ someone to manage your social networks - so I guess it's debatable.
I know a few sole traders who found about.me very useful, as it works as a good way-finder for all of their social networks.

It's almost a given that most serious self-employed or sole-traders also have a good website that has the same information, though, so it'll be interesting to see what about.me can offer that makes it different..
How to manage & motivate your employees! 25th February 2013 9:59 AM
It's tricky - Although I agree that incentives can be good for driving moral, I've always found that employees begin to expect them, and become very unmotivated when you're not running an incentive or bonus scheme.

Respecting their work and personal balance is very important, however.
