Can you believe it? 3rd March 2012 5:19 PM
What I like about the recent letter is, it says 'Transport For London' then in brackets ( The Enforcement Authority) it kind of reminds me how much nicer it was growing up in the 70s. Why people want to migrate to this country is beyond me..

If you are up for it Barney the very next thing you want to be doing is going back to the scene of the accident to get photo's of the pot hole -
If you are lucky and the pot hole is still there, park in a nearby car park then go and take as many photo's as you can, have with you a ruler or a universal item (usually something with the Queens head on so people cannot argue about the item, and take picture with the item in the pot hole so that you have evidence of the size of the pot hole.

The next thing i would do is then take the bike to be fully repaired without and expenses spared. Get a detailed receipt.

Next make a small claim against the local council or whoever is responsible for that stretch of road.

It is wrong that is a fact, but you could still have the fine go up and up and up, personally I'd pay it knowing your going to counter sue for damages or get in touch via the contact details on the ticket and inform them of your intention to sue for damages (only inform them after you have the photos) and they might freeze it from going up, or negotiate your counter claim.

Don't get mad, get Justice.

If they know your accident took place it may well be the pot hole is gone, it is for sure worth having a look.

If your cuts and bruises are still visible, take pictures too if poss

I thought that Master chef was British.
Originally it was Loyd Grossman teaching us all how to cook, then it became a cookery version of Xfactor sometime in the 90's (I think)

BBC probably sold it off - probably why they host such a poor series, sour grapes

So, which is best? Cold turkey? Or limiting yourself to the point where you stop?

Neither -
The only cold Turkey that is any good is the kind that comes in a club sandwich.
When a person 'limits' the cigs those few cigs can become very (precious) important and you might turn in a Gollum.

Master Chef Australia rules! I watch every minute of it.
It makes our (uk) poor effort at a show look completely dismal and dreary - no wonder people from overseas think the British are a bit... rigid?
John and Gregg are really likable but why on earth is it that the BBC not see this and give it a fair shot at the Aus version rather than just Jazz up the kitchens and judging methods..

When they first changed it, it was slated in the UK - Which makes perfect sense if you had never seen the Aus version. BBC need to really put out on this show as they are really being left behind.

New Zealand did a version (New Zea landers are very interesting people, a few tongue in cheek moments) even their show beat ours...

I half watch the UK show while doing other things and only as a fan of John and Gregg. Without them I'd probably not watch, really I don't think the audience get the same coverage time to connect with the stories of the contestants as with the Aus show (shame)

*And there is some cooking too

Rainbow shark He used to try his darndest to get under the grid we had over the underground filter.

I'm use to have Chinese algae eater that would go down the tube of the undergravel filter, lol until he got too big and wedged himself in there, lucky I got him out.

I've never thought about naming the fish, the male is big daddy, he has a green lady (green strain ancistrus) and a common lady they are the breeding trio - especially now with over 100 in the grow out tank, I'd have to name them in the way of 'The Borg'

It is true, they are Talking Catfish I've never seen one but I have read many people say what Dreamraven is saying how it freaks them out, lol.

My uncle had a stingray fish that use to bury itself in the sand, literally now you seem me now you don't.
I remember feeling bad but not wanting to tell him he was sitting looking at an empty tank..Then boom! I nearly shot through the ceiling

As vices go, thats it. I've gone middle-aged and boring. With nippers and business, haven't time for anything else!

As far as you are concerned you have given yourself a significant life extension from that of a smoker.
You are not only giving the 'Nippers' the right path to follow but also the healthiest version of yourself too.

Interesting post from Paul, prob am still addicted, but as long as it's sugar free gum, at least my teeth are in good nick

It's not really to do so much with the gum but as the earlier article says when the chewing motion produces no food but produces the acids then it's a bit like Russian Roulette -

Reflux can be a big problem for people addicted to gum. The symptoms are very much like Gallstones - horrible
Acid indigestion is often reflux in early stages - horrible
Constipation - horrible. Teeth marks on the bowl are the first sign

Inspiring. But for me, the longest I have gone without was about three days. Being a stereotypical redhead, people were happy when I was calmer. Unfortunately, that meant smoking again.

People have a sympathetic nerve system to get the rush of adrenalin (part of the energy used in 'fight or flight') they also have a parasympathetic nerve system to bring down the rush and to calm everything down.

It's interesting people say the cigarette 'calms' when actually the blood pressure raises adding stress to almost a dangerous level as the body detects the attack from all of the chemicals and poisons being exposed to the system (sympathetic nerve system) the calm feeling is a simple breathing exercise that you do each time you inhale which triggers the parasympathetic system to bring back the balance from the bodies reaction to the poisons, toxins and additives.

*Just a thought* - How long does it take you to smoke a cig 3-4 mins? just for fun - do the deeper breathing part of smoking a cig without actually smoking a cig for 3-4 mins- you'll be amazed.
