Do use a Twitter Hash Tag? 16th June 2012 7:27 AM
I found these two posts from mashable and searchengineland. They more or less cover what it is and how to use them and mashable gives 6 examples of successful twitter hashtags used in twitter.

The how to is here: Search engine land
and the examples are here: Mashable

The post from search engine land is a year old, but its still pretty relevant, and could help. I did read on another forum that these are already being used in "excess" though, but will link that as soon as I find it.

I think it can help, especially if you are trying to have a conversation with someone, or when you're talking to your clients and prospective clients about your products etc. so its not a total loss to use them.
Common sense dictates that, when advertising something at a huge discount, make sure you are prepared to handle it.

I am steamed that they blamed marketing for it. Seriously. In the end it looks like management doesn't want to take the blame, so they pass the buck. How is it that with marketing as it stands online, more seem to feel the need to devalue it even more?

lol.
Cliche, I know. I did try find some news story about this, but, apart from general rants on the web, I found nothing. But I was listening to the radio last night about a "marketing blunder" that steers, a local fast food place here, fell prey to.

Here's the breakdown. They advertised a burger for R10.00, which normally sells for about 25. It was promoted all over, from TV to facebook and twitter. The special lasted for one day only. Here's the problem though, they had so many customers in their branches all over SA, that they actually ran out of stock.

Naturally this got people upset and they have been ranting on a few areas online and business gurus are now calling it a marketing blunder as they used social media to spread the word, and because these mediums are so popular, they could not deal with the amount of people that responded to the special.

What really gets me, is that I think its not a marketing blunder at all, it was actually a brilliant tactic. Look at the response they got for the promotion. In all honesty, to me, it seems like it was a business blunder because somehow they didn't realize that advertising food at that price was going to give them the response they got and they were unprepared.

I guess I am just a tad upset that its being pinned on marketing, and not letting the chips fall where they are meant to, and that's business management itself. What do you guys think though, was it a marketing blunder? Would you promote something like that and not prepare yourself for the influx on the day?
how to improve PR? 15th June 2012 8:35 AM
Analysis your H tag and setting meta details. Sharing on social site.

Social networks seem all the rage, and do well when used to drive traffic. But that is off page optimization and not much on page. Also, playing around with your meta tags etc. too much, would hurt your rankings.

I think that the best thing to do if you do want to analyze your on page optimization, keep the keyword/phrases that are doing well and switch the ones that aren't doing well with new ones. This way you can keep testing until you have keywords that all work well and help you rank your page higher.

Would that not be better?

Your working procedure is right but also you need to do Onpage optimization weekly basis.

Weekly? Do you mean on new content or the actual site. Would that not confuse search engines?
Page Rankings 15th June 2012 7:13 AM
May web page or website is more optimized for Yahoo and bing. Use google adword tool and find keywords of your niche & optimized website for that keywords then check results.

I think you have some mistake to setup your Meta details. Because google algo have some different from yahoo and bing.

hmmm interesting bump this, I haven't seen this post in a while

From what I have seen everyone is chasing down the almighty Google rank. It seems more important than any other search engine. Even in my training, there was more focus on Google than there was on Bing or Yahoo.

In all honesty, I don't really understand why one Search engine needs to be specifically hunted and the others almost neglected. Would it not be better to be found on all? I always think its best to just optimize your site for any eventuality and then build on that with social media, and in the end, the rankings will come.

(Maybe I'm just being backwards)
Nokia slides into survival mode... 15th June 2012 6:55 AM
Is it me or has devbalic reworded Dreamravens post?

...finger sliding to the ban button as he waits to hear an interesting reason why...

That's not really fair. It was my rant

My youngest (10) would agree, she has a really old nokia that probably came out with the dinosaurs but she needs to look after it or she won't get a "proper" phone.

Something interesting happened, my eldest (15) has a Nokia 2700 Classic, and she went outside to feed the pets, and ended up slipping and dropping the phone in a huge puddle of water. In about 3 hours, after drying it out with a hairdryer, it was working again. It shows that these phones are seriously more hardy than a smartphone at least. If it had been my iPhone......

Nokia has the Lumia (do they not?) how does that phone not compare to a blackberry, Samsung, or iphone? hmmm to be honest I haven't been seeing a lot of advertising for the Lumia here either.

More than likely, but if you think about it, Nokia is not that popular anymore when you look at the likes of apple and blackberry, and samsung as well.

I used to be a big fan of Nokia at one point, but the last phone I bought was an E60. When I was able to upgrade I was looking at the N series, and in the end went to motorolla. There were too many things going wrong with the N series and I don't think people have entirely forgotten that.
Youtube rapped on the knuckles. 13th June 2012 7:43 AM
Everyone seems to be suing everyone else. More and more now days it seems like its the one thing that has to happen in business. But at the same time it looks like its more for negative publicity than anything else. If you look at Apple vs Kodak, YouTube vs Viacom, Google vs Bing.
Forums are going to be buzzing with this now, along with the general do more SEO to combat this Took a read through the changes made though, its interesting to see that penguin was on the list as well.

Can I borrow your goat? I seem to have misplaced mine
