Why do you guys think so?

PostsOffline Lead Generation Idea 4th February 2013 12:11 PM Why do you guys think so? ![]() When is it not a good idea to anger a superpower? 4th February 2013 12:07 PM Google (or their execs) tend to enjoy being in the limelight. This post at the wall street journal was picked up by two other online papers so far (namely the financial times and the guardian) and talks about Eric Schmidt's new book and how he thinks China is the "most dangerous superpower on earth" (to quote). it's what he said that was kinda shocking though : “China, Schmidt and Cohen write, is “the world’s most active and enthusiastic filterer of information” as well as “the most sophisticated and prolific” hacker of foreign companies. In a world that is becoming increasingly digital, the willingness of China’s government and state companies to use cyber crime gives the country an economic and political edge, they say.” So what do you think? Is there merit in what he's said? Do you think its hogwash or name calling? King Richard III Found. 4th February 2013 11:41 AM Has anyone been watching this? “Remains found beneath a council car park in Leicester have solved the 500-year-old mystery about the final resting place of King Richard III, archaeologists say.” ~ Source - Sky News They have already performed DNA Tests and are 100% sure that this is his body where he was laid to rest after dying in battle. I wonder how much of the history books would be rewritten according to what they find in that dig? ![]() RIM faces uphill battle after Z10 launch. 4th February 2013 9:26 AM Sometimes I think that, one of these days we're not going to need to interact with a real person at all. Everything is geared towards your technology doing everything for you. I guess I could blame all the sci-fi movies we watched as kids, or the fact that technology is just moving forward at an alarming rate, but in the end it comes down to the person using the phone. It just seems odd that a person would rather send a text, or email when you just need to pick up your phone and call them. It could also be that many of the people we talk to aren't in the same geographical area we're in. That would make calls rather expensive lol - enter skype perhaps? Technology is just making things too easy for us to ignore human contact. In the end schools might have to give classes in talking to another person, instead of learning how to work with a PC. PC Building! 4th February 2013 9:20 AM “I think when something fulfils a purpose; there is little need to upgrade it. I guess not everything needs to connect to the internet and if a computer performs a rudimentary task, why bother replacing? I fitted a PC 15 years ago to monitor a clocking on system in a factory; I was very surprised to see that it was still there doing the same job last month. I think all that had been replaced was the power supply. It RIM faces uphill battle after Z10 launch. 4th February 2013 9:05 AM “I personally think that the iPhone is too highly priced to remain one of the most popular phones worldwide. You wonder where else things can go next. Surely there is only so much you can do with a device that's designed to go in your pocket. After GPS, telephone, radio, mp3 player, email, messaging, internet browser, sprit level, personal organizer. What else would you possibly want a phone to do for you or what else is possible for a device that's so small?” Make Breakfast perhaps? ![]() I guess its just all part of trying to make your smartphone better than the competition. When a new phone comes out, its got more than its predecessor, and hopefully more than its direct competitor. Why I think RIM (or Blackberry as it were) has a long way to go to trump Apple, is look at Siri. No doubt there are loads of apps out there like Siri, even in the android market, but they aren't Siri. I know people in the US that held off upgrading their 3GS's until the 4S came out, just so that they could get Siri, which is now on the 4S and 5's. How does a company compete with that? Apple has also taken measures to make sure that apps added to the app store don't resemble Siri, they can do most of what Siri does, but it cannot be a "clone" of Siri. If they do, they're not added to the store. Blackberry needs something similar (or better) than Siri to beat Apple. And I'm not sure they're going to get that sorted out anytime soon. What Are You Listening To Now? 3rd February 2013 9:04 AM Has anyone listened to the Kongos yet? 'm listening to them at the moment. Last two songs were come with me now, and I'm only joking. RIM faces uphill battle after Z10 launch. 3rd February 2013 8:16 AM “All signs point to the decline of Blackberry and RIM. I think that Android and iPhone are pretty much dominating the smartphone market and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. I think that eventually iPhone will become the most used smartphone phone worldwide.” There are already a good many reports out there that actually claim that. But if you take a look at a few countries, and their conversion rates, BB's are much cheaper (which is probably true in every country). For example, here in SA, you could get a BB for close on 2 or 3 thousand ZAR. But to get a 16 gig iPhone, you're looking at just over 7 and a half grand, and that's without the micro sim card. Some parents would rather buy a blackberry than an iPhone. But at the same time, I have had no problems with mine since I got it, but some of my eldest's friends have had endless problems with their BB's. Over here at least, the iPhone is still just a phone only the privileged can afford. Either on contract or prepaid. I was privelaged enough to work for a company that needed me to have one, or I would never have one either. RIM faces uphill battle after Z10 launch. 2nd February 2013 8:12 AM I agree there actually. I updated my iPhone's software yesterday and found iMessage. (It's been lurking on the phone since iOS5 though lol). Works exactly like BBM, but from iPhone to iPhone, iPad etc. They have a lot of kinks to work out it seems. Intel's Liquid C1. Their 9th Smartphone. 31st January 2013 1:44 PM “What you think of the Nokia/MS partnership? I think iPhones are great, but you can get a phone with equivalent features for far less of a cost.” Havent really formed an opinion as all the nokias I've owned werent really wot you'd call a smartphone ![]() I guess you could, but it wont be the branded iphone. Theres a lot of hype that goes with owning one as many think its the best smartphone on the market. |
