You should try to get likes and follows for your fan page.

True, does that mean you think social networking fits the bill?
I used to do guest posting for one company many years ago, but the aim was to get referral traffic by giving the other site loads of guides that would always be current.

We used to make

How to Get More Back links......... 9th February 2013 7:44 AM
Then you can buy links on freelancer

IMHO, and with respect, I wouldn't buy links at all, from any sites. If you do, they have to be stripped of link juice before the google gods accept them.

Unless you're maybe saying that you buy from people at freelancer and fiverr where they build you a few hundred (or thousand) links that point to your site? That is about the worst thing you could do for your site (once again IMHO). Unless you have a way of tracking every link, you're going to end up with your site placed on sites you wouldn't want your links on. Low quality sites already spammed to death by the same freelancer trying to make a quick buck.
Need help for Link Building 9th February 2013 7:27 AM
Yes, you are right do follow links from high PR websites are the best. If you find do follow directory submission websites then this will be the best for generating better back links for websites promotion.

From what I have heard, gunning for only do-follow sites is one of the best ways to get google to take notice of your site - in a bad way. One needs a good mix of both dofollow and nofollow for any linkbuilding campaign to work effectively (is there an echo in here?)

The way I see it is this, a marketer needs to emulate a normal person. They aren't specific about where they go, or whether or not the site is dofollow or not, if they find something interesting (like we do on forums) we link to it, simples. A marketers job is to make sure web content meets those criteria, being interesting enough for others to link to, so it makes their linkbuilding campaign a little easier.

Its not about where the link is, its about the context in which the link is placed. Anchor texting has gotten into trouble as well because its been spammed to death, like .edu and .gov site links, and the innocent keywords meta tag in a website. Its also not always more about how many links there are as opposed to where they're placed.
They actually had the audacity to call again. This time it was a man and not the same woman. Needless to say they got less of my time and red ears to boot.
con artists.

In hindsight it may have been a good thing my pride did the talking.

I got a cold call this morning from a company that dealt with Viruses. The call came from another country (more than likely - the line was extremely bad). They give me this long story about how they have been getting complaints from other people in my country about viruses being downloaded off the net. The lady then asks me, are you near your computer - I'm working, so I say yea, is it powered on? (rolled my eyes at that one, I said yea again. "Can you find your start button for me please?" I click on my start button and she asks me what I see my computer, or computer. I ask her why I need to do this, she says to identify the viruses. I tell her that I am an A+ qualified PC tech and that my PC has no viruses whatsoever. Which she seems to ignore.

She then asks me to right click on computer and click on manage. which I do. But at the same time I'm distracted by a text message, and she thinks my PC's not running fast enough and she says "you call yourself a PC technician and your computer's slow?"
To which I then replied that I don't need to participate in this, and put the phone down in her ear.

So, armed with a few choice keywords, I go consult the Big G, and this is the first post I found. They try to get you to install software on your computer that gives them access to it. They ask you to pay for the software and it becomes sort of PC blackmail. If you don't keep paying them, they lock you out of your own computer and you cannot use it.

Now, going to go make some coffee and try some breathing exercises to calm down.
What Are You Listening To Now? 7th February 2013 7:41 AM
Going for Rock. Today its Rev Theory - Heck yea (profanity edited out). Tis good music though.
Without a doubt this is a big part of it. But if you are pinged and reminded to update your details, and then decide to ignore, or haven't updated contact details so you never get reminded, then maybe directories (me included), social media platforms etc should be more ruthless and simply delete the data.

Would at least clean up the search engine index with a lot of unwanted rubbish. But will confess to needing to get my own house in order (dumping 220,000 old listings tonight )

Dang, that's one heck of a number. yea, I guess if they've been emailed and such, and they still don't get the picture, 'tis not worth it. Will get rid of a lot of clutter, but can't help feeling bad for those about to lose their listings. People with free listings probably wouldn't bat an eyelid at losing their listings, but what about those that paid? 'Tis an awful waste of money methinks.
