What's the best way to Quit? 10th August 2011 8:37 AM
“I worked for British Gas around 15 years ago, was sent to service one of their recently installed new boilers. Chatting away to the customer who asked if he could watch me, I said " How much have you paid for this?"

IM will never die.
It's always going to be around in one form or another. Even if all we do is optimize a site and run adverts all day long. We will always have forums, so we will always be able to communicate with other IM's and business people.
The only thing I would like to see come to fruition from that powder keg exploding, is the end to spam, the end of searching for something only to find pages and pages filled with links and no information.
lol How does that work though, I'm sure you won't find dvd's for every niche we work on

I have played around with videos once or twice. I was learning though, and I think I might not have gotten the mix right. But what we generally do is upload a vid to Youtube, and then add it to a few other areas like Vodpod, blip TV, and Metacafe. The really cool thing is that, my blog has a player plugin from vodpod that adds our videos to a sidebar in the blog itself.
If you get the combination right, and make a vid that could spark the next idea virus, it would rocket your traffic by all accounts. People will want to see the site that the videos come from, and if your site is well planned out, it could boost sales as well.

The only thing (ok well there are actually two things..) that bothers me is that one day all heck is going to break loose. Sometimes I really think that the IM world is a slow wicked powder keg that could explode. The impact it will have on sites that are hard working legitimate and not out to make a quick buck are going to suffer from this as well.
If you think about it, and forgive the acid here, as soon as something new pops up, someone has learnt of a way to manipulate it, and then changes the new thing into something so repulsive, no one worth their salt in the business world will want to have something to do with it.
In the end, it could go two ways entirely. The keg explodes and IM is a thing of the past, completely. Where a link means nothing, reputation is nothing, and business turns into all out warfare between competition. Where you would be limited to the on page seo you do on your page and that's it.
Or, things can be policed so strictly that the only flavor of IM out there is white hat, and people have no other logical choice but to conform and do things the right way.
For now, many say that Plus 1 is a rep boost and nothing much else. I actually hope it stays that way. Because if it becomes valuable to linkbuilding or SMM, you may as well just go pour some petrol over the keg and light it all up.

LOL seriously? That is the one thing I have never used Google for. Do you search for sites that have the time?
The speaking clock.. 3rd August 2011 11:39 AM
I would not be surprised, and would also bet that the numbers are similar too.

You guys have it too? We have a service here that when you dial (1023 - LOL I am serious), you get a woman on the other end of the line saying "when you hear the tone, it will be...(she then turns robotic) and tells you the time, followed by the beep. The last time I checked she translated it from English to Afrikaans as well.

Sometimes its good to go with a bang, but you have to think about the bridges you're burning ahead of you. People talk, and if you are a well known person, always in the news etc. people would probably be less likely to hire you because of what you have done.
IT was funny though. Was a good read.

Two parts in that stood out to me.
erm, I think that one says it all. I can believe that they want to keep everything as positive as possible, but I really don't think they know every name there is in the world. One might look suspicious, but turn out to be the name someone was born with.
Interesting... So its not about your name per se.. its just if you spell it weirdly, or it seems obviously fake... Still points back to my original statement made earlier.
The comments made to the post seems more interesting to me though. It would seem that many already have had enormous issues with +1. It says a lot to those that actually want to join. It might even put them off entirely from joining.
“He says that he is trying to make sure a positive tone gets set here. Like when a restaurant doesn't allow people who aren't wearing shirts to enter.”

what is your opinion about article directories? 1st August 2011 11:19 AM
“Article Marketing is useful but you need to take care on some specific subjects.. Google panda Update is also known as Content Farm, so the content must be unique now and it must not be submitted in multiple directories..
You need to give the unique content every time if you want good result and submit in useful directories like Goarticle, ideamarketers, articledashboard etc..”

That being said; I still firmly believe that article marketing can be effective. Many of the authority sites that have been hurt by the algo have begun looking at their submission criteria in an effort to get their sites back to where they were. With that happening, if you stick to the rules, be creative, research and write quality, unique articles, you should be fine.
Submitting the same article to many sites is about as good as staring into the face of an angry panda (couldn't resist). Google will have something to say about that methinks. I've seen many people argue the fact over many forums in the past, and seeing that makes me think that I would rather play it safe and make sure that all my articles submitted are unique and not one article spread all over the web.
Another bad idea is spinning. It is also frowned upon by the big G.
Uniqueness + quality + valuable information that helps a visitor = good business.
