I still stand by my original point, life should mean life and in the worst cases the death penalty.

We now have a wonderful addition to the society currently on the loose from an open prison - he had 13 yes 13 life sentences handed to him - someone tell me what possible useful contribution this person has to offer to our society? Thats assuming of course he is caught before he cracks someone elses skull, probably gets given another life sentence, yet will still be out in the near future for good behavior.

Hang him & be done with it.

Crime is up or down, its actually irrelevant to my point - life should mean life! How many criminals get released on licence, or serve half their time yet re-offend and get sent back, what a waste of MY taxes.

Eurovision looms 7th May 2014 9:36 AM

Well its that time of year where i load up the hard drive with films to keep myself busy from Eurovision.

Long bored of the Countries in bed with each other, voting politically and using it as a platform to show their displeasure at one Country or another, in recent years its been us as a target.

Seems however that Russia has been booed for getting to the final - will they take over from us as nil pois specialists?

Anybody actually still watch this, or like me will you being doing something less boring?

I think you can manipulate data to show all sorts of stats to suit ones argument.”

Hi CJD

Sorry, thats exactly what i meant, you can use the stat to add weight to both sides of the fence.

Do agree with you though the media does sensationalise things which gets the public banging the drum.

I think you can manipulate data to show all sorts of stats to suit ones argument.

According to the article in Steves point Rape & sexual crime is on the increase and the highest for a decade. And a 32% increase of a sexual offence including a child under 13 - that's a number you can't ignore.

Like i pointed out, certain crimes maybe lower and that can skew the stats, so whilst overall crime maybe down, certain areas of crime are on the up.

Think you are selectivity reading this article though -

Quote from the Guardians article noted in Steves post -

" The detailed police recorded crime figures also report a 17% rise in sexual offences including a 20% rise in rape to 19,214, the highest level for a decade.

The large rise in rapes and other sexual offences was partly due to increases in offences involving children, according to statisticians. The police figures record 13,090 sexual offences involving a child under the age of 13 in 2013, the highest reported total for a decade, and an increase of 32% on the previous 12 months. They include a 54% increase in rapes and sexual assaults on boys under 13 which rose from 1,775 to 2,727 last year. The number of sexual attacks on girls under 13 rose by 25% to 7,611 last year"

But some other crimes do seem to be down, so this maybe skewing the figures as a general overall figure?

Bank Holiday season again... 6th May 2014 12:55 PM

Ok its been a while since i did R/E at school.

I thought Easter was the resurrection, and wasnt that 3 days after he died - he was born on 25/12 and that doesn't change sooooo how can his death & resurrection?

Our Society is dissolving in to a race whereby we have little or no fear of the law, take the riots a couple of years ago, ok they managed to track a few of the culprits down but the vast majority are sat there with 2 fingers to the rest of the society that wants law & order.

There's talk today of increasing the sentence if you kill someone if driving whilst disqualified - why on earth are you driving at all if you are banned? If you get caught all that happens usually is you get a further ban - what a joke. Little point in adding points to the licence, thats assuming they have one and its doubtful they will bother insuring the car - all points to the law abiding citizen paying out more.

There was talk of over crowded prisons in another thread, kill a load of the lifers off, make room for the lesser crimes and extend sentencing to actually reflect the time you are supposed to serve, not just half for good behavior  - break the law, expect to be punished and spend a long time in jail.

Go back 50 years, there wasnt half the kind of disgusting crime that goes on today, there was fear of the law. If you are in jail you should lose all human rights & privileges much like the fact they gave no thought of their victims rights or what effect the crime has on their life.

Fed up with all these tree hugging idiots in Brussels (and this Country) telling us how we can & cant run our Country. Prison should be fearful place with no rights, hard work and a deterrent to keep Society a nicer place to live.

So how did they get the other 2 out ?????

Still yet to use the chunnel, much as i hate sailing, still prefer to be above the water than under it.

Bank Holiday season again... 6th May 2014 11:42 AM
Very fair point, so I'm just a miserable old git

Yes you are !!!!!

To be fair though it does appear the this term will be very short with another week off for the kids in 3 weeks!

Sure someone will explain, how does Easter keep moving if Christmas doesn't?

Holidays do need to be spread out better, seem to recall the news reporting last week at the head teachers conference that exact point, wonder if anything will ever come of it?

Can't help but feel sorry for this lady, her parents correctly Registered her Birth with the local Registry Office and given a CORRECT Birth Certificate, but due to a filing error she was registered on the system as male.

Despite FULLY admitting their mistake, Legally the record can now not been changed and her 23 year marriage has been declared illegal and is now classed as a gay marriage.

How can such a mistake occur and why the hell cant it be changed - guessing its some archaic law dating back hundreds of years.

Common sense must prevail .... ?
