Ah... Soaplands...!

I've actually used the Emmerdale Plane crash as a prelim to a mass exercise once.... complete with Cockpit and pig entrails...

Im the Health & Safety Governor for a local school & i too used the plane falling out the sky scenario for a fire drill once. I blocked all the usual primary exits, making everyone think about a secondary exit- even some of the teachers got confused!

I remember always moaning about fire drill as a child, how my eyes where opened to "acting" out a disaster scenario as above with the school. Major changes where swiftly brought in!

Financial support for Charlie Hebdo 9th January 2015 10:51 AM

It really is turning in to a sad scary world.

Im all for diverse religions and race - live and let live!  But these extremists are damaging the very sanctity they claim they are fighting for.

Heard on the News the UK is braced for its own terror attack ..... when will this all end

OPEC Oil Cartel feeling the pressure 8th January 2015 12:50 PM

Seem to recall somewhere that diesel only costs 1.5p a litre more to produce that petrol so why at the pumps is it 6 or  7p a litre more expensive to buy?

I refulled yesterday at a nice £112.9 a litre for diesel, dont get me wrong i'm happy but thats until i saw petrol at the same station for £106.9 grrrrr

Well it all seems a bit of a mute point now, news is breaking that they have dropped their bid to sign him after further pressure from their sponsors.

Baffles me completely - a guy is convicted but maintains his innocence so can understand why he defends his stance of not apologising.

As to the rights and wrongs - the alleged reasons behind the attack on him is that footballers are pillars of society and act as figures to look up to - err oooook ........

So biting, cheating by play acting when tripped, deliberately falling over in the box to cheat a penalty, spitting constantly are all good traits in a footballer that one should "look up" to

Sorry just dont get it - IMHO - he has served his time and should be allowed to rebuild his life - maybe he needs to look aboard to get a fair hearing though.

It's a tough one to call, but in summary, it seems others feel more confident coming out when they hear of someone else being effected e.g. once Max Clifford was charged more came forward.

It's a dilemma as it must be a nightmare to be falsely accused.”

Yep sure is - the problem is though that its a stigma that will never go away.

In the MP's case it seems there was insufficient evidence not to charge him, so does that mean he's not guilty or as it states, there is no evidence?

Take a certain member of the Royal family being accused - what evidence of alleged historic abuse can be proved? Its surely one persons word against another?

Naturally we cannot discuss any case at any depth for legal reasons, my point stands though as im a staunch defender of anonymity until proven guilty.

If multiple people accuse a public figure of a crime it doesnt necessarily mean they did it.

Rape is terrible, i get that people feel violated and all that but the legal system is there to protect them all. You must report it at the time and not wait 10+ years to report it, just because someone else has made an allegation.

Saw in the headlines earlier the case of a MP accused of rape, has seen the charges dropped through lack of evidence.

Yet again another figure has had to endure the torture of the media because he has no rights to anonymity.

Of course the crime is terrible and those that suffer such a heinous act MUST be protected, but then so must the accused. After all they are innocent until proven guilty - so why are the press allowed to publish their names and effectively have a trial by media?

Blood boils just thinking about how many people would have capitulated at that call

Sooner we ban cold calling and spam texts about last years accident that i didnt have, or miss-sold PPI the better

Blimey - up early were we not?

Were you Santa spotting?

Hope the broadcast went well, sadly i didn't see the message until just now.

Playstaion (Sony)& Xbox (Microsoft) have suffered - seems my decision not to let my boys go online with either has paid off.

They did briefly connect with people aground the World on Wii, but i do keep that unplugged from the Net when its not in use !

Seem to remember (admit to having a couple of drinks over the xmas break so memory a bit foggy ) a bit of backlash from the gaming community, have to see what comes out regarding this over the coming days.

On the OP - i think Sony was wrong, but have they prevented a bigger issue for the cinemas etc if they were going to be targeted. Really is a tough call either way!

Nope - best ive seen so far is £1.077 petrol & £1.147 diesel.

Not sure how you can have a £0.007, same with the £0.009 - anyone know why they just don't round it up? The pumps state minimum 2 litres, ok i understand that but how can you buy just 2 litre's if the total is £2.154
