Smoking Ban 26th March 2010 10:41 AM
some really good points here - i would never inforce anything on anyone, i believe in freedom of speech and the ability to do as you wish as long as it doesnt affect others and as long as you dont blow smoke in my face then you guys carry on filling your lungs with tar

The only point which really wasnt picked up in my original post was i dont see the difference between smoking in a car or using a mobile phone to make a call, i agree texting is different.

Does anyone have any viewes on this?

Aviva are quoted to be saying that this is their biggest payout in the UK.

When the numbers of Insurance Companies are reduced, they themselves bought out the merged company General Accident & Comercial Union, then surely the chances of singular losses are increased?

car does look a mess though - thats my dream car as well !

You're missing the point guys. If introduced it is to reduce the passive smoke problem from children travelling in the vehicle. Safety on this occasion is secondary to the health content.

I know what they are trying to do but my point was a skew on that really - i personsally dont see smoking in the car any different to using a mobile phone whislt driving - both tie up your hands & both are distracting - same as Steves comment re changing a cd - these things are all distracting as each other

You're right Clive, I have a thing about being rude to people and I need to remember that (1) even at my snarkiest I won't be the worst a---hole they've dealt with that day, and (2) even if I was they're expecting it and are paid to deal with it.

1 - they have prob been on the fone to me before you then lol
2 - yep they are being paid to take up your vaulable time

Have to admit i dont suffer fools gladly, if i dont like the way im being spoken to as a customer i will bite & bite bl***y hard - i dont want to ruin anyones day but i will not suffer bad customer service quietly - i make no apologies about it.

Biggest bug bear now that im on the TPS register is surveys which strangely enough arent on TPS radar - somehow this then turns into a sales call - a sneaky way of getting around TPS.

When im asked now to partake in a survey, rather than a flat no which takes forever to get through their thick skin, my favorite line now is my fee is

Was reading about this earlier - Call to ban smoking in vehicles.

Being smoke free for the last 12 years im not really bothered either way but i have always said i could not differentiate lighting up versus making a call on a mobile (texting is different!) both IMHO are as distracting as each other, you have to take your eyes off the road to find the packet, take 1 out - fumble in your pocket for the lighter or worse look down to pop your lighter in, wait for it to heat up & then look down again to take it out ... you get my point.

When making a call yes you have one hand off the wheel but dont you in all honesty when you smoke?
