Oil prices on the March again... 23rd February 2011 10:39 PM
My neighbour was lucky enough to test drive an experimental electric car and had all his driving costs met by the university for several weeks!

I can't see how it would work in low-cost supermarkets (like most of those in the UK). The profit margin's so small shareholders would need to work hours to get their discounts.

Isn't there something more exciting and worthwhile these people want to do?

I'd have thought investing your time in something more directly geared towards paying customers would work better.

Thanks, sjr4x4.

Until asking my question, I'd rather assumed this was all part of the wonderful web world ....

I only occasionally get a "return" - the daftest situation is when an email I haven't sent goes from one to another of my own email addresses. Equally occasionally, I get a "refused access on account of the message being probably spam" from a company I haven't contacted.

I will now investigate. It might be the remnants of an old problem with the previously used server, I suppose - but I'd like to know!!

Thanks again, Linda

Following on from this, is it possible for the "message receiver" to tell the difference between an email which purportedly comes from your email address and one which really does?

If it isn't, then don't a lot of us risk being blacklisted because of botnets and the like?

The old advice to sort out where your customers come from, what types of people / organisations they are, etc is always relevant.

In our case, they're usually people who have to travel some distance to us (eg Londoners) or employers who want us to travel some distance to them!
You don't always remember to do the basics, do you? May I remind you of what you already know but - like me -don't always practise:-

Prepare before you go to any meeting, if at all possible. You want to know who's going to be there and which organisations they're with, so you can research further and think about where the areas of common interest might lie.

Manage your business cards. If you do discover an area of common interest with another attendee, summarise it on the back of one of your business cards and pass it over to your "partner". Write out what you've agreed to do on the back of the business card they've handed to you(eg "phone X by Fri to pass on the details about Y").

Normally, your writing on the other person's card is barely legible - so make sure you transcribe it before you forget the details!
Thanks for replies.

I'm working on the premise that all ezine artices will be competently written items (ie both a reasonable read and OK as regards keywords selection) authored by people with something interesting and useful to say. What surprised me was to be advised that as many as 50 articles (or more) would be needed just to achieve a noticeable and lasting increase in site visitors. Is that MLFers experience please?

I agree that what's of real interest is the number of conversions achieved after enquirers have landed on the site. It seems to me, though, that widespread visibility within one's target market could be an important contributor to the number of visitors and therefore one's chances of converting.

There are other things I need to be doing on my site (eg new keyword analysis for its different pages) ... and I am doing them as time permits. At present, though, my question is only about the ezine issue. Any advice gratefully received!

Best wishes, Linda
Hi everyone

I've just watched an ezinearticles.com video that's answered a question I asked on another thread in MLF. Depending on niche, the presenter suggested you'd need at least 50 articles published before you'd see any significant effect on your web site's stats. Elsewhere, there were suggestions that you'd need at least 250 articles published to achieve the same results.

Would be interested to know of other MLFers' experiences. I've only got 3 articles published so far and was hoping for a pay off at a much earlier stage!

Best wishes, Linda

Now 2 articles up and one re-submitted (guess what, I still got it wrong on a bit of the HTML ).
