Greeting Cards

Greetings cards are traditionally sent at times of celebration or to show someone you care. Possible celebrations and occasions are: birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, engagements, Bar Mitzvahs, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, new babies, moving house, changing jobs, bereavement, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, Eid, Hanukkah, Diwali, Easter, get well soon and retirement amongst many more.

Greeting cards are available from specialist shops, supermarkets, craft stalls, independent shops, as well as online, and range from mass produced cards to handmade more bespoke options. Small kits or buying craft supplies to make your own cards has also become very popular.

You can now send cards through websites, where you can personalise them with photos or words before sending, or add gifts alongside them. There are endless options and a lot of different websites to choose from. There is also the option of eCards which haven’t been as popular as expected. You can send them via email to any number of recipients, usually for free and they can be personalised or even animated.

With the growing popularity of social media more people are leaning towards sending a generic happy Christmas on their Facebook page or posting on Twitter to say happy birthday to a friend rather than physically buying and sending a card. This is a lot easier and cheaper, especially with the growing cost of postage. There is also a trend to donate money to a charity of your choice instead of sending cards at Christmas. However, for a lot of people, sending a traditional card will always be their preference.
