Birley Wood Golf Course is a popular 18-hole, par 69, 5,973 yards parkland course located in Sheffield, England. It is known for its well-maintained fairways and greens, as well as its challenging water hazards and bunkers. The course offers a variety of challenges for golfers of all levels, with both short and long holes.
A short downhill par 3 will play slightly longer than the yardage, playing to a small rear elevated green that can cause a tricky recovery shot if you miss left or long as it will roll down the bank into the rough.
A pleasant par 3, teeing from an elevated tee you will need to carry difficult rough and a small ditch that runs across the fairway. Playing into a large tear shaped green that is uncaptured by a bank.
A downhill par 3, if you come up short you will benefit from the downhill slope as it will kick on. If you are playing from the whites, it’s a long par 3 and opens the margin of error.

The hardest hole on the course. A long straight par 4 requires accuracy with the thin treelined fairway. Teeing from an open area the fairway feels even narrower as you play into the opening towards the green.
Hole 1 at Birley Wood Golf Course - A straight, downhill par 4 to start with, a statically placed bunker in the centre of the fairway at 240 yards down the fairway can hamper most golfers if they go with the driver.
A second par 4, a slight uphill tee shot, the fairway is narrow with a wider short rough on the left. Play to the left of the fairway to open the green up for your second shot.
