Helen has been binding and restoring books for 25 years. She works for book collectors, book dealers and institutions as well as individuals who have a precious childrens book or a family bible in need of repair.

Helen specializes in repair of antiquarian books. The guiding principle in book restoration is to retain as much of the original binding as possible and to match repair material sympathetically.

The Bindery is stocked with a wide range of leathers, papers and modern and traditional book-cloths. All materials are archivally sourced.

PAPER CONSERVATION

Books or archive material, such as maps, prints or documents can be cleaned and repaired. Some materials may require washing to remove staining from water damage or atmospheric pollutants. They may then need resizing before repairing or lining.
